Maquette for stone sculpture
(Different Stages)
2004

Different stages of making the maquette for the stone sculpture.

The original was made of a soft permanently pliable clay then aluminum thin metal "flashings" were placed on the side to make a seam for a mold. Then a plaster cast mold was made of the maquette.
Once plaster is poured into the mold (a thin liquid separator is coated on the inside to avoid the new plaster fusing to the mold before) and given 24 hours to dry,
the mold is gently chiseled away to reveal the plaster maquette
